Over the last couple of years, I have been getting into woodworking and perfecting my craft. Here are some of my projects that I have done for my family and friends. I have a strong affinity for the look and style of shou sugi ban. I find it gives the project real character versus paint or stain.
Originating in 18th century Japan, shou sugi ban is a particularly striking method of preserving wood by charring it with fire. Traditionally, this practice is used with Japanese cedar in order to weatherproof it. The wood is burned until the surface is charred, and then coated with natural oil.
I don't make products and then sell them. My projects are custom pieces that I build to order.
